Our Press Release!
The formal press release for the Neurons and Nature Festival of Connection, Nature and Neuropsychology
We are delighted to be able to share our formal press release.
Neurons and Nature: A Festival of Connection, Nature and Neuropsychology 2024
We are thrilled to announce the very first “Neurons And Nature” conference to be held at the Down to Earth Project, Murton, Swansea on 10th May 2024!
This event promises to be a conference like no other.
A joyful sharing of research, nature-based clinical activity, and opportunities to experience therapeutic nature-based interventions and workshops.
Set in an outdoor sustainable site within the breath-taking Gower Peninsula of south Wales, we’re moving away from the traditional conference style and offering a balm for the brain and body!
What is it about ?
The seed for Neurons and Nature was planted when a small group of outdoor-loving neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists and researcher got together to discuss the role of nature-connection in their work and personal life. What emerged was a committed action to bring together a community to showcase the compelling evidence for nature-based interventions and to celebrate how nature can support ourselves, along with a focus upon people living with neurological and long-term health conditions. It is a not-for-profit event with the team volunteering to organise and manage it.
What is lined up ?
We have some great speakers lined up, including a leading academic from the Nature Connection Research Group at the University of Derby, clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists currently working within the NHS and in their clinical practice who all use nature connection within their work. The formal talks will be supplemented with workshops and activities to provide practical examples of how nature can be incorporated into practice.
Who is it aimed at?
The Neurons and Nature event is perfect for professionals working in neuro-rehabilitation or physical health settings, including psychologists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, who may already be nature-connected or simply nature-curious!
There will be with plenty of opportunities for networking and connection in the bell-tent or by the campfire, along with space for quiet reflection among the trees or by the beach.
Attendees are welcome to camp overnight at the site and we will be hosting some optional activities the following day if you want to soak in the experience for that little bit longer.
Who is helping us?
We are incredibly grateful to RWK Goodman, Beacon Case Management and JCP Solicitors for their kind support and sponsorship.
